Recognized as one of the notable wildlife parks in Chattisgarh state of India, Indravati National Park is known in the country for multiple reasons. It is the sole Tiger Reserve in the state whose strategic location in the Dantewada district keeps it into centre of attraction. As the details are made available name of this park has been derived from the Indravati River that keep flowing to west from east so resultantly it is a boundary of the park from northern side in close proximity to Maharashtra; other Indian state.
It was in 1981 Indravati was given National park status with its total area of nearly 2799.08 km2 but it became a Tiger Reserve sooner in 1983 when prominent Tiger Project of India was brought into focus to protect tigers. Unique topography of this park makes it unique especially due to rolling hilly terrains whose 177 to 599 m altitude above the sea marks a big landmark. Popularity this park has gained is due to typical identity and availability of multiple wildlife collections besides many types of bird species. It is known most notably for collection of rare endangered species like wild buffalos and hill mynas that are not found anywhere else. The amazing hill range is unique with ample greenery so is famous wildlife whose variety turns the Indravati National Park one to be explored to the level best by especially those people willing to explore wildlife in fullest of enthusiasm.
History
It was in 1981 that the then government of Madhya Pradesh founded the Indravati National Park. Being named after the Indravati River, this park formed the river as boundary in its northern portion. It was previously called Kutru National Park and had added Tiger Project Network in 1983 with further expansion.

Prefer visiting this park from December 15 to June 15 which is a perfect season to arrive and enjoy time here.

By Rail
Jagdalpur railhead is the nearest one at a distance of 168 kilometers only from the Indravati National Park premises.
By road
Reaching this reserve through roadways is possible by Jagdalpur route that serves as Bastar district headquarters and can be reached to visit the park. The park is also connected with other places through roadways. Kutrue village is the entry point for this reserve at a distance of mere 22.4 kilometers and is located in the northern side at Jagdalpur- Bhopalpattanam road route.
Flora And Fauna
Flora
Southern moist mixed forestry area with teak is the major forest category here besides forest categories sans teak while its southern portion has mixed and dried forest regions. Some more species include teak, achar, karra, kullu, shisham, semal, haldu, arjun, bel and Jamun et al. It has ample collection of rohan, bahera, mundi, kasai dhaora, lendia, saja, salai, moyan, mahua, dhoban, siras, tendu and bija amongst others.
Fauna
Several endangered species besides ample varieties of tiger are available in the reserve especially wild buffalo very much known here.
The few animals that attract the tourists most are leopards, gaurs or Indian bison,  nilgai, sambar, wild boar and flying squirrel et al. Good number of porcupine, pangolins, monkeys, langurs or chausingha; the four-horned Antelope are major attractions like sloth bear, dhole or wild dog and striped hyena as well as muntjac making good collection.
Some of the freshwater Crocodiles, monitor lizard, usual common krait, Indian chameleon, cobra, Indian rock python and Russell's viper are commonest of reptile species that are specialties of this park. Bird watchers find good collection of birds.

Mainly rare wild buffalos, barasinghas, tigers, leopards, gaurs or Indian bison and nilgai etc are prominent Indravati National Park wildlife ecollection. Similarly a few sambar, chausingha or four-horned antelope et al are wonderful collections so are rest species available here.
