This majestic place is located at a venture of two scenic rivers namely Alkananda and Mandakini.  And is situated at an elevation of 610m and is distanced 34kms from Srinagar.  The place also serves as the initial points or the starting point of the two holy places of immense importance to Hindu religion Kedarnath and Badrinath.

The town beholds a very popular duty-free market and one can buy a number of stuff from here at an affordable rates. And not only this the place also holds a cascading flora and fauna, which is diverse in its own ways. The place is also regarded as the “Adobe of Gods” as it consists of a number of holy Gufas a residence of a number of lords. The Rudraprayag is distanced 18kms from a notable holy place Agastamuni where the rishi Agastya mediated for years.

Koteshwar Temple

A temple with immense significance as is a place where lord Shiva rested and meditated for quite a long time. This temple is located at a distance of 3kms from the Rudraprayag. The months of August and September are the most religious months of the year as this is the time when great Lord Shiva explored the place.

Dhari Devi Temple

The temple of Goddess Kali is situated at a distance of 16km down trek to Srinagar. This beautifully carved temple is at the site of the river Alakananda.  It just take half an hour or so to reach this place of majestic view from Srinagar.

How to Reach Rudraprayag

By Air

The most nearby airport to the place is Jolly Grant Airport  located at a distance of 159kms from Rudraprayag. And the rest over distance can be covered by the help of cabs and buses, which are easily available from the airport.

By Rail

Rishikesh Railway station is the nearest station to Rudraprayag and is distanced at 140kms. Taxis and buses are available from the station itself to cover the distance and reac the place.

By Road

The place lies in a well built network of motorable roads. But this is generally not suitable as it is too tiresome and takes almost a complete day. The place can be easily reached by a NH58 highway.

Time to Visit

The place can be visited at any time of the year but it is generally avoided to visit it in the December to January time at it is too cold out there. The largest amount of mob visits the place in the month of August and September as they have some religious importance.
